Abstract
The purpose of the study was to assess how manufactured Bee Bread (BB) affected the performance and blood properties of developing calves and heifers.Twenty healthy cow calves and heifers (aged 4-6 months with an IBW of (102.4 kg and 98.6 kg for calves and heifers, respectively) were randomly assigned into two groups (5 calves and 5 heifers per each). 40g of BB was added to the baseline diet three times a week for the treatment groups, whereas the control groups were given the basic diet.. Animals were weighed monthly, and feed intake was observed to estimate feed conversion. Blood samples were collected monthly to estimate Hb, TP, albumin, globulin, T3 and T4. Compared to the control groups, animals treated with BB showed higher levels of FBW, BWG, and ADG (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the addition of BB improved the FCR (P < 0.05) and raised the DFI (P < 0.05). Compared to the control group, the animals in the BB groups had higher levels of hemoglobin, total protein, globulin, albumin, T3, and T4 (P < 0.05). Overall, BB supplementation in the diet of growing calves and heifers may support better growth, more efficient feed utilization, and lower feeding costs
